2021 Challenger Career Help Hotline

Nearly 4.7 million fewer Americans are employed now than at the end of 2019, according to the latest data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). While the Great Resignation has created hiring and retention issues for companies, many job seekers are only pursuing positions that fit their lifestyles. To help navigate the current job market, Challenger, Gray & Christmas, Inc. will provide free career and job search advice to callers nationwide.

For the first time in the firm’s 36 years of holding this event, Challenger is providing a designated number for Spanish-speaking callers. According to seasonally-adjusted data from the BLS, 546,000 fewer Hispanic and Latino Americans are employed now than in February 2020.

WHAT: Challenger Career Help Hotline

WHO: Global outplacement and business and executive coaching firm Challenger, Gray & Christmas, Inc.

HOW:  By phone for English – 312-422-5010

NEW: For Spanish – 312-422-5020

WHY: To give job seekers expert career advice to help advance their careers or land new positions

Challenger will suspend normal business operations for two days so its staff of professional job search coaches can provide free job search advice to callers from across the country. For the second year in a row, our coaches will take calls from their homes instead of an in-office phone bank.

“Job seekers feel empowered to make demands of their potential employers on pay, flexibility, child care, and mental health care. With over 10 million job openings, there are a lot of opportunities. Companies are often responding by beefing up their offers,” said Andrew Challenger, Senior Vice President of Challenger, Gray & Christmas, Inc.

“The pandemic has given American workers the opportunity to reassess priorities, both professional and personal. Our coaches can give job seekers tips on how to communicate their needs to hiring authorities, position themselves as a best fit, and ask the questions that will help them get the full picture of a company’s culture,” he added.

The firm’s 36th annual national job search call-in will be held on December 28th and 29th, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. CT. The phone number is 312-422-5010 for English speakers and 312-422-5020 for Spanish speakers

Our expert coaches will be available to answer questions regarding:

  • The hidden job market
  • Switching industries
  • Explaining a career gap
  • Resume writing
  • Interviewing
  • Transferring skills
  • Turning a temporary position into a permanent one
  • Military to civilian job searches
  • The job search for new college grads
  • Reskilling
  • Retirement
  • The job search for those over age 55
  • Career advancement
  • Finding a job after incarceration

As an outplacement firm, Challenger, Gray & Christmas, Inc. provides job search consulting and career transition counseling to displaced employees. The firm’s services are typically available only to those who receive outplacement benefits from their former employer. The two-day hotline is the only time the general public can take advantage of Challenger’s job search expertise.

The hotline does not place callers with new employers, nor can our experts review individual resumes or point callers to specific opportunities. However, our coaches can give callers time-tested strategies and advice. The hotline affords anyone the opportunity to get some guidance from our experts in the job search field.

The firm’s 36th annual national job search call-in will be held on December 28th and 29th, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. CT. The phone number is 312-422-5010 for English speakers and 312-422-5020 for Spanish speakers.

SVP Andy Challenger is available for interviews on the job market and job search process in 2022. Please contact Colleen Madden Blumenfeld for more information.
